| History In 1946 a group
of concerned pastors in Atlanta, Georgia saw the need for a local Bible
school that would cater to people called to the ministry later in life;
people who couldn’t “pull up” and move to another state to attend school,
but needed a quality Bible education to enhance their ministry. Out of that
vision, Trinity Baptist Seminary was founded in 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia.
For over fifty years Trinity has been dedicated to the
education and training of Christian workers, including teachers, ministers,
and missionaries, who will proclaim competently and efficiently the gospel
of Jesus Christ.
Trinity Baptist Seminary is chartered by the State of
Georgia as a private, independent seminary and operates under an excluded
status with the Georgia Department of Education
Mission Statement
Trinity Baptist Seminary is committed to the development and training of
Pastors, Evangelists, and Christian workers worldwide, who will prepare
themselves spiritually and academically to serve Jesus Christ and the local
church.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Trinity Baptist Seminary is to train
Christian leaders and workers academically and spiritually for their place
of service at home and abroad. TBS students are primarily interested in
preparing as pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and church workers. Our
responsibility is to fulfill the Biblical command to commit sound doctrine
'to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also' (2 Timothy 2:2) at
the various levels of society.
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many
witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach
others also.”
- II Timothy 2:2
Educational Philosophy
Our educational philosophy is theistic rather than
humanistic. Since all wisdom begins with the only wise God of the Holy
Bible, education is to be based upon the Bible; centered around Jesus
Christ; controlled by the Holy Spirit; related to the pupil; and socially
applied. Learning is achieved through faculty lectures (live and on tape),
discussions, student research, individual study, reading, and practice.
Only professing Christians are accepted as faculty members, instructors, and
students. We have not sought accreditation by any secular accrediting
association. It is our desire to have the approval of the Lord Jesus and His
Church rather than the approval of the world. Please see our position
on accreditation statement for a more complete explanation.
Because it is our desire to please the Lord Jesus Christ and His church, we
are committed to both academic and spiritual excellence. To avoid government
interference, Trinity Baptist Seminary does not receive any state or federal
funding. It is funded by tuitions, individual grants, and gifts from
supporting churches and concerned individuals.
At Trinity, adult learning experiences are converted into academic credit.
Life experience is not new to learning. It is the way man first acquired what he
knows.
Evaluation of an applicant's ability to pursue undergraduate and graduate
study is based on prior academic work, education, seminars, workshops, job
related training, work-learning experience, etc., and by entrance examinations.
